    • JioPages Browser Launched – 11 Things You Need to Know Before Using

      alt text

In an attempt to increase its digital dominance, Reliance Jio launched made-in-India browser “JioPages” that works on the Android platform. Though the company has launched the JioBrowser in December 2018, it now rebranded it JioPages.

One can’t deny the fact that the timing of JioPages launch is perfect. When the whole of India is going through Aatmanirbhar Bharat sentiment and boycotting Chinese apps, there could be a huge benefit for Reliance Jio.

To the unaware, Jio in association with Qualcomm has conducted 5G trials and achieved more than 1Gbps internet speed in 5G RAN network platforms.

Before we start using JioPages, let us go through the 9 important facts behind make-in-India’s JioPages browser.

      1. Based on Chromium Blink Engine:

The JioPages is a built on Blink engine that is developed as a part of Chromium Project. The same framework is being used by other popular browsers including Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, and Brave.

      1. Incognito Mode:

The JioPages has an inbuilt incognito mode that supports private browsing. One can even set a PIN or fingerprint to access it.

      1. Blocks Ads:

Jio’s browser blocks all kinds of advertisements and pop-up ads to provide a clean environment.

      1. Local Indian Languages:

Apart from the default English, JioPages supports 8 other Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali. Even the content feed can be personalized based on language preference.

      1. Personalized Home Screen:

One can easily personalize the home screen by changing the options in settings. You can select any search engine of your choice. The option includes Google, Bing, and Duck Duck. If you want to pin the favourite websites for easy access, then it allows.

      1. Dark Mode:

The JioPages allows you to switch to Dark Mode. You can even have a personalized theme using colourful background themes.

      1. Informative Cards:

The JioPages provides you with the personalized informative card based on your preference. It includes the latest news trending such as IPL cricket score, stock market trends etc.

      1. Advanced Download Manager:

Based on the type of file (such as image, video, pdf), the JioPages differentiates downloads section. This helps in easier access to the downloaded files when needed.

      1. Lightest Browser:

With less than 3.6MB in size, JioPages is surely one of the lightest web browsers available on the Google Play store.

      1. Encrypted Connection:

The encrypted connection makes it a go-to browser. Earlier, the Chinese-bound UC browser was banned for privacy concerns. With more than 400 million subscribers, Jio will surely consider privacy as the utmost concern.

      1. Limited to Android Phones:

Currently, the much-hyped Made-in-India browser is limited to Android handsets. If you are an Apple iOS user, then you need to wait for a few more days.

By doing so, you achieve 10% instant cashback during Amazon Great India Festival.

      What’s Your Opinion?

Partnerships are okay but that doesn’t lead to unnecessary bloatware. Moreover, there is an N number of Samsung handsets that are powered by Exynos 9611 chipset. It looks as if Samsung is just spamming Exynos 9611 on all their mid-range handsets.

    • OnePlus 8T First Impressions - Will 8T be A New Trend Setter Flagship?

      alt text

No big features. No compromises even. It looks OnePlus has got a perfect balance. The Chinese smartphone maker has upgraded its latest flagship handset OnePlus 8T with the new Warp Charge 65W.

This major change will itself sell OnePlus 8T as it can give a 100% charge in just 37 minutes. A quick 15-min top-up is sufficient enough to pull it through the day. Claimed to be the world’s fastest charging technology, OnePlus 8T will surely get rewarded.

Moreover, it gets a minor bump (from 4300mAh to 4500mAh) in the battery. The sad part is it still doesn’t offer wireless charging support. Leaving it aside, it offers a good USB-C port and charger inside the retail box.

      OnePlus 8T Specifications:

Regarding specifications, the new OnePlus 8T sports a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with 1080p resolution. It has 120Hz refresh rate and does support a maximum 1100 nits brightness level.

Powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset and 8GB/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, it has upgraded to UFS 3.1 storage with onboard storage options of 128GB/256GB capacities.

OnePlus 8T Quad-Camera Setup with AI Video Camera:

Apart from a brand-new Dark mode, the OnePlus 8T has got many custom features. On the camera front, it has got quad-camera-setup that includes a 16mp ultra-wide sensor supporting 123°.

The other three camera configuration includes 48mp IMX586 primary lens with optical image stabilization support, 5mp macro snapper, and 2mp depth sensor. It has got an AI algorithm support for a video camera that helps in recording portrait mode by blurring the background.

The Video Nightscape mode helps to record videos in extreme low light conditions with additional image stabilization support for videos. Though there is no dedicated zoom camera lens, one can make use of 2x crop digitally.

      OnePlus 8T Availability:

Available in Aquamarine Green and Lunar Sliver (matte finish), OnePlus 8T can be grabbed at just ₹43K (8/128GB) and ₹46K (12/256GB) on Amazon India and OnePlus stores.

Though it’s not the best practice to compare OnePlus with Apple, the latest OnePlus 8T has got the best refresh rate, battery and software support.

    • Apple Also Shuns Power Adapter in iPhone 11 Model (including XR)

      alt text

Here comes BIG shocking news! Those who wanted to purchase the older models of iPhone 11 namely iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2020) will not get power adapter and EarPods in the retail box.

For the first time, Apple announced that its iPhones 12 series retail box will not have a power adapter or earphones. Instead, it will only have a USB-C to lighting cable.

In a similar fashion, the older models of Apple will not include the necessary accessories. However, there’s an exception to the European country.

      Here’s the Exception:

France is the only nation where the consumer will get the EarPods bundled in the retail box. This is mainly due to the adherence of local laws that clearly specify them to do so.

Don’t know how Apple is going to deal with this new move. To console the iPhone lovers, the company has discounted the price of its EarPods by lowering it to $19.

In a similar note, the new MagSafe Wireless charger that supports 15W fast wireless charging costs $39. Remember, the normal charger will only get you 7.5W.

      alt text

Citing going green and environmental protection as the sole reason, Apple removed the important accessories like charger and EarPods from the retail box. Then how come the company will help the environment when it packs the same charger in a separate box?

Truly, this is absurd. If you want to do good for the environment, only buy a phone when the old one is broken. A good phone will stand with you for at least 2 years.

In that case, the companies should release the new smartphones once in every 2 or 3 years. In such a scenario, capitalism will not survive.

Realme 7 with extra ₹1,000 off on Exchange:

      alt text

Realme 7 continues to be the No:1 pick under 15K budget. With its MediaTek Helio G95 Processor, 6GB RAM, and Sony 64mp AI quad-camera, Realme 7 is the best at this price even when compared to its brother Narzo 20 pro.

By the way, the look of the mist blue variant is amazing. Retailing at ₹14999, there’s no price change as such. However, one can grab it with extra ₹1000 off on exchange.

Say, if you are exchanging your old handset for Realme 7, then you’ll get extra ₹1000 on your old smartphone.

Realme 6 with ₹1,000 off Discount, Now at ₹13,999:

      alt text

The old horse Realme 6 with 6GB RAM and 90Hz display is still going strong both online and offline. The G90T processor is really good and fast. The inclusion of 30W charger wins the game for Realme 6 even at ₹14,999. Grab the handset at a discounted price of ₹13,999 on the Flipkart sale.

Realme X3 with ₹3,000 off Discount, Now at ₹21,999:

      alt text

This is the cheapest Snapdragon 855+ chipset smartphone in the market. The 120Hz smooth display combined with 64mp AI quad-camera facilitates capturing starry skies.

Some users even compare it with Apple iPhone XR. Would you be getting at 25K? Realme X3 is perhaps the best package for gaming and photography alike.

Realme X3 SuperZoom at ₹24,999 (after 3K discount):

If you are in need of super zoom and 8GB RAM, then invest extra 3K in Realme X3 SuperZoom. The SD 855+ chipset is a beast. Surely, a better pick than OnePlus Nord.

Realme X50 Pro at ₹36,999 (Retailing at ₹41,999):

      alt text

The super-expensive handset from Realme is powered by a 7nm octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Above all, it’s a 5G ready handset. The 65W superdart charge gives 100% juice within 35 minutes. The 64mp AI quad-camera includes 12mp telephoto lens as well.

The only negative I observed is the absence of 3.5mm jack.

It is to be noted that there are many handsets in this 50K range including OnePlus 8, Mi 10 and OPPO Find X. The ₹41,999 smartphones will now be available at ₹36,999. Surely, a must grab offer from Realme and Flipkart.

    • Jio Leads With 35% Market Share But Has 88 Million Inactive Users

      alt text

As per the latest data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio continues to be the leader in wireless subscription base. Issuing a press release, TRAI has released the telecom subscription data as on 31st July.

By going through the data supplied by TRAI, it’s official that Reliance Jio is the first telecom network to gain 400 million subscribers. It’s definitely a party-time for Jio.

Jio is the Market Leader But…

The month of July added 3.55 million users to Jio followed by Bharti Airtel (with 3.2 million) whereas the Vi is the worst sufferer. Vodafone Idea combine continued its losing spree with a loss of 3.7 million users.

In a nutshell, the top 5 players are Reliance Jio (35.03%), Bharti Airtel (27.96%), Vodafone Idea (26.34%), BSNL (10.37%), and MTNL (0.29%) in terms of market share.

Airtel Has More Number of Active Users:

Surprisingly, Bharti Airtel has 97% active users as against to Reliance Jio’s 78%. In absolute terms, Jio has over 88 million inactive users when compared to Vodafone Idea’s 32 million and Airtel’s 9.5 million inactive users.

Data Reliance Jio Bharti Airtel Vodafone Idea (Vi)
Total Subscribers 400.8 million 319.9 million 301.3 million
      Market Share 35.03% 27.96% 26.34%
      Active Users 78.09% 97% 89.33%
      In-active Users 87.8 million 9.5 million 32.1 million

A large chunk of inactive users could pose a serious threat to Jio. There could be many reasons such as migrants out of work during the lockdown, growth of JioFiber etc.

Leaving it aside, India has 955.85 million wireless subscribers active and lost 3.2 million subscribers in the last month.

Do you agree with my opinion? Share your thoughts.
