    • Poco C3 Launched. From ₹7499 Only (Flipkart BBD Sale 10% Discount)

      alt text

The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Poco C3 in the Indian market. To be frank, the company has released so many teasers that everyone could recognize it as a Redmi 9C clone.

Except for the fingerprint scanner, every other spec is a replica of the Redmi 9C plus Poco clean experience (minimal UI with no Ads).

      Poco C3 Specifications:

Regarding the specifications, the latest Poco C3 sports a 6.53-inch waterdrop notch display with HD+ resolution (720 x 1600 pixels) and 20:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a P2i rating that can withstand accidental splash.

Powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset and 3/4GB RAM, it comes in 2 variants 32GB and 64GB storage space. The inbuilt space can be further expanded using a microSD card up to 512GB. Incidentally, the same MediaTek Helio G35 processor runs on Realme C11, Realme C12 and Realme C15.

Poco C3 Rear Triple Camera Setup:

On the camera front, the Poco C3 features an AI triple-camera-setup including 13mp primary shooter, 2mp macro lens, and 2mp depth sensor.

The handset runs on MIUI12 based on Android 10 and backed by a large 5000mAh battery with 10W fast charging. Available in 3 colours including Arctic Blue, Lime Green and Matte Black colour, this Poco C3 will be available for sale on October 16th.

      What’s Your Opinion?

Regarding the (introductory) price, Poco C3 3GB RAM/32 ROM and 4GB RAM/64 ROM variants cost ₹7499 and ₹8999 respectively. On the eve of Flipkart’s Big Billion Sale, the SBI card users can avail an instant 10% discount.

This makes the deal sweeter. Surely, at ₹6749 the Poco C3 is a super affordable smartphone.

If you are looking for an inexpensive non-fingerprint phone, then Poco C3 is an ideal one. Undoubtedly, this is the cheapest offer from Poco squad. The other members of Poco squad are Poco M2, Poco M2 Pro, and Poco X3.

    • Reliance Says No to Sony-Viacom18 Merger (Strategic Rethink)

      alt text

Following a strategic rethink, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has called off the proposed Sony-Viacom18 merger. Instead, the company is now keen to invest more in digital content creation.

As per the original plans and discussions that continued for about a year and a half, the Ambani owned Viacom18 were to merge with Japanese giant Sony Corp. It’s to be noted down that Reliance Network18 owns a 51% stake in Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd.

      Sony-Viacom18 Proposed Merger Decoded:

If the deal had materialized, the Sony-Viacom18 group would house more than 60 TV channels (including 2 sports networks) and 2 video streaming services (SonyLIV and VOOT). As a result, Sony Pictures Networks India would have got the majority share (74%) and the other 26% by Viacom18 in the merged entity.

Eventually, the Reliance share would shrink to 12% in the combined entity. This was not acceptable for Reliance Group as it wanted to retain management control over the digital operations.

      alt text

The proposed merger would have heated up the competition and a direct threat to Disney+ Hotstar (a merged entity of Disney and Star India).

With Jio in hand, the Reliance needs a constant flow of content (on digital platforms) as it’s now an essential part of Reliance businesses (both Jio and Fiber-to-Home). This made the Mukesh Ambani group to rethink and abandon the proposed merger.

      Lucrative Market:

Instead, the Reliance plans to invest aggressively by creating India’s No: 1 OTT destination and thereby grow the digital media business to take on the competition.

Definitely, when the global players like Amazon Prime and Netflix can lure Indian subscribers, why not Reliance?

    • OPPO A15 to Debut Soon (As Amazon Exclusive)

      alt text

The Chinese electronics smartphone maker OPPO Electronics will launch its new phone Oppo A15 in the Indian market. This comes as big news from Amazon India.

The budget smartphone Oppo A15 is an Amazon exclusive. By going through the design and promotion page, the new handset gathers a lot of specs from Realme’s Narzo 20.

      Oppo A15 Specifications:

The budget offering is rumoured to sport 720x1600 pixels. The triple camera setup and the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner have got many similarities with Narzo 20 handset.

As pet the latest certification by the FCC, the handset runs on ColorOS 7.2 and packs 4100mAh battery with 10W charging. There seems to be a lot rebranding in smartphone segment especially from Chinese makers including OPPO and Xiaomi.

For the unaware, the OPPO is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics. All the important Chinese brands such as OPPO, Vivo, OnePlus and Realme come under a single umbrella.

What’s Wrong with Realme Narzo 20?

A few weeks earlier, Realme Narzo 20 got into the market. It’s powered by Media Tek Helio G85 and 4GB RAM. Incredible specs including the mammoth 6000mAh battery with reverse charging made the Realme Narzo 20 an instant hit.

However, for the full charge, it takes not less than 3 hours. Being heavy, one needs to have bigger hands to hold it. As the mobile looked very thick, the company might have reduced its battery capacity to 4100mAh and rebranded it as Oppo A15.

Anyway, let’s wait for the official launch of Amazon India exclusive Oppo A15.

    • Mi 10T Pro, The Latest Flagship (With 108mp AI Camera)

      alt text

The month of October marks the launch of flagship models by the leading smartphone makers. Xiaomi is no exception.

Through a virtual event, Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship smartphones – Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro. Interestingly, Mi 10T Lite variant debuts as well. It’s to be noted that the predecessors’ Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro were of February release.

It’s obvious that the flagship models have flagship specs with them. However, Xiaomi is known for higher-end specs at a super affordable cost. The expectations would be much higher in the case of Xiaomi flagship models.

Keeping up with the expectations, Mi 10T phones included Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, 108mp primary camera and 144GHz refresh rate display. That sounds great on the paper.

Let’s look at the specifications of each model:

      Mi 10T Specifications:

      alt text

The Mi 10T sports a 6.67-inch full HD+ (1080x2400 pixels), 144Hz refresh rate display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, Adreno 650 GPU and 6/8GB RAM, the handset has inbuilt 128GB space with no memory card slot.

Xiaomi Mi 10T sports a triple-camera-setup including 64mp primary lens (wide), 13mp secondary sensor (ultra-wide) and 5mp macro lens. On selfie front, it has 20mp front camera capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.

Backed by a mammoth 5000mAh battery and 33W fast charging, the Mi 10T helps you sail through for a day and a half easily.

      Mi 10T Pro Specifications:

      alt text

The USP of Mi 10T Pro is the inclusion of 108mp AI primary sensor. All other specs remain the same. There’s a slight improvement in storage space (up to 256GB internal space).

      Mi 10T Lite Specifications:

      alt text

The Mi 10T Lite version comes up with 120Hz refresh rate and is powered by Snapdragon 750G chipset (the first to have) and 6GB RAM. On the camera front, it sports a quad-camera-setup on the rear including 64mp primary lens (wide), 8mp (ultra-wide-angle), 2mp (macro), 2mp depth sensor.

For selfies, it’s packed with 16mp front camera.

All the phones are 5G capable and include a LiquidCool technology for regulating temperature.

The prices of Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro and Mi 10T Lite are EUR 499, EUR 599 and EUR 279 respectively. The higher-end variant of Mi 10T Pro might retail at 56K in Indian rupees.

Undoubtedly, specs-wise they can easily compete with OnePlus 8. However, there’s always a good alternative for every product. Let’s wait and watch for the Indian release.

Starting October 12th, Vivo V20 is all set to become the first handset to Android 11 pre-installed. Generally, Google Pixel handsets are the first ones to have the latest Android out-of-the-box.

The First Non-Pixel Phone to Make a Mark!

However, this could change this year with the launch of Vivo V20 in the Indian market. The latest press release by Vivo revealed that the new Vivo V20 series would pack the latest Android. The FunTouch OS 11 is based on the latest Android 11.

The statement also quoted that depending on market conditions, VIVO has a plan to equip V20 series with Android 11 in succession.

With this, for the first-time a non-Pixel smartphone will deliver a true Android 11 experience. The Pixel phones including Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G will hit the US market on October 15th. On the other hand, Vivo V20 will be launched on October 12th.

This is to be noted that Vivo V20 is already in the Indonesian (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand) market. The global launch is yet to come. However, one can see that the handset is listed both on Vivo India and Global sites.

The other USP of Vivo V20 series is it being ultra-thin with a 7.38mm trendy slim design.

      Vivo V20 Specifications:

The Vivo V20 sports a 6.35-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 1080x2400 pixels resolution (409ppi density). Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G chipset, 8GB RAM and Adreno 618 GPU, the new Vivo V20 series would have 128GB internal storage space.

Backed by 4000mAh battery and 33W fast-charging, the handset comes in 3 colours including Moonlight Sonata, Midnight Jazz and Sunset Melody.

      Vivo V20 Series 3 Variants:

The Global site of Vivo mentioned that there would be 3 smartphones under Vivo V20 series – the Vivo V20 Pro, Vivo V20 and Vivo V20 SE. Though the Flipkart is a sales partner of Vivo V20 series, one can expect them to be in offline mode as well.

It’s exciting to wait and watch how Vivo differentiates its Vivo V20 series.

      alt text

The Chinese smartphone maker Oppo Electronics launched its Oppo A93 in Vietnam market. Powered by Helio P95, the phone sports 6.43-inch OLED display.

Though stated for the October 6th release, Oppo has launched it early in this Southeast Asian nation. The new Oppo A93 has got many similarities with the popular handsets including Oppo F17 Pro and Reno4 Lite.

      Oppo A93 Specifications:

Regarding specifications, the Oppo A93 sports a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with 1080x2400 pixels resolution. Powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P95 chipset and 8GB RAM, it has 128GB inbuilt storage space and a dedicated microSD card slot.

6 AI Portrait Cameras – Studio Photography?

On the optics front, it has got quad-camera setup. The 48mp primary camera (wide) on the rear and 8mp ultra-wide secondary sensor, 2mp depth lens and another 2mp camera with f/2.4 aperture.

For selfies, it is packed with another dual-cam-setup including 16mp sensor (wide) and 2mp (depth) sensor. The built-in fingerprint scanner is another addition.

The Oppo A93 boots ColorOS 7.2 built on Android 10. On the connectivity side, it has got support for Band 40 for maximum LTE benefits. It includes the support for USB Type-C, headphone jack and Bluetooth c5.10 as well.

Available in Matte Black and Metallic White colours, the Oppo A93 is not only sleek (7.48mm thickness) but also lightweight (weighs just 164 grams).

The new Oppo A93 costs VND 7,490,000 Vietnamese dong equivalent to $323. In Indian currency, it is equivalent to INR 23706.

Don’t know why Oppo is launching similar handsets under 25K budget. The inclusion of so many cameras just counts the spec sheet. Instead of going depth and macro, the OPPO should have thought of including a telephoto lens.

      Ok done!

How Can I Port My Mobile Number to BSNL

Then how to port my number to BSNL?

Porting a mobile number to BSNL is easy. It’s just a 4-step process.

Step 1: Send SMS to 1900:

Just type, PORT<>Your 10-digit Mobile Number and send it to 1900.

For example, if your mobile number is 9848012345, then send

      PORT 9848012345 to 1900

Step 2: Get Unique Porting Code (UPC):

You will receive an instant UPC on your mobile number from 1901. This UPC number has an expiry date of 15 days. As a general practice, the Unique Porting Code has 8-characters.

The first 2 characters signify service operator and service area code. For example, AT stands for Bharti Airtel and Tamilnadu area. The other 6 digits are randomly generated.

It is always better to process MNP at least 3-4 days before the expiry of the UPC code.

      Step 3: Visit BSNL CSC:

Visit the nearest BSNL Customer Service Center with valid documents (ID proof and Address proof). The CSC centre will have digital KYC verified by taking your photograph. After verification and on the receipt of payment, the concerned authorities will give you a new BSNL SIM.

Step 4: Insert the New BSNL SIM:

Just replace your existing SIM with the new BSNL SIM on your handset.

As we all know, the BSNL is a PSU and working style of the employees is quite different from that of the private players. So, be ready for a few setbacks. However, in most of the cases, getting a BSNL SIM is super easy and takes just 10-15 minutes.

    • Google Pixel 5 is Here. (What Has Changed?)

      alt text

The tech giant’s 2020 flagship phone, Google Pixel 5, is finally here at Google’s Launch Night In Event. The Pixel 5 starts at $699 whereas the Pixel 4a 5G is priced at $499.

Starting October 15th, Japan will mark as the first nation along with 8 other nations to get a hold of Pixel 4a 5G smartphone. However, the native United States users will have to wait until October 29th.

Undoubtedly, Google Pixel 5 is the top-end phone of 2020 when one considers its flagship features, compact body, decent camera, and guaranteed updates. But that doesn’t stop making the tech giant a numero uno in the field.

Though it’s a flagship phone, Google Pixel 5 has to compete with many upper mid-range to flagship smartphones including OnePlus 8, Galaxy S20 FE 5G and more.

      Google Pixel 5 Specifications:

Let’s look at the specifications of Google Pixel 5 in detail.

The new 5th generation flagship handset sports a 6-inch full HD+ OLED display with 2340x1080 pixels resolution. 432 ppi pixel density and Corning Glass 6 protection on top. It has got a 90Hz refresh rate.

The most controversial change is the inclusion of Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset for its 5G capabilities. With this Google has ditched the flagship silicon chipset for its top Pixel model.

Paired with Adreno 620 GPU and 8GB RAM, it has got 128GB inbuilt storage space with no option to expand it further via micro SD card.

      Lost on Camera?

On the camera front, Google Pixel 5 sports a dual-camera setup on the back. It includes 12.2mp main camera with zoom and 16mp ultra-wide-angle camera supporting 4K recording at 60 fps. For taking selfies, there’s an 8mp sensor (the same as Pixel 4).

Pchh! The earlier model had a telephoto camera lens.

      5G Connectivity with Big Battery:

The major improvement is seen in the battery. The new Google Pixel 5 is backed by a 4,080mAh battery (in contrast to 3700mAh in Pixel 4 XL) with 18W Qi wireless charging.

However, one should remember that 5G connectivity drains the battery a lot. Thus, the extra capacity may not give enough endurance. The built-in wireless charging and reverse wireless charging is a good addition.

The IP68 certification for the aluminium body is a noticeable feature.

The search-engine giant Google also launched Google Pixel 4a 5G ($499), Nest Audio Smart Speaker ($99) and an updated Chromecast TV streaming device ($50).

      alt text

Google Pixel 4a Indian Launch on October 17th:

    • Apple India Online Store is Open (with Apple Trade In Option)

      alt text

The Apple India online store goes live today. The day September 23, 2020, marks a new beginning for the Apple in the Indian market.

Till now, the US-based electronic giant used to sell its iPhones and other Apple products in India through e-commerce platforms and third-party resellers including Flipkart and Amazon India.

That’s the reason, it didn’t have comprehensive control over the product delivery and support experience.

Apple Soon to Setup A Brick-and-Mortar Store in India:

The much-awaited Indian store is Apple’s 38th online store worldwide. To provide logistics support, the company has tied up with Blue Dart. This enables Apple to deliver products across the nation within 2-3 days of the purchase.

If things work out smoothly, Apple will soon launch its first brick-and-mortar store (retail store) in India. Recently, Apple has opened the first floating glass retail store (the first of its kind) at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

In fact, it is described as the tech giant’s “most ambitious retail project” till date.

Apple India Online Store in Indian Languages:

Leaving the physical retail store aside, let’s concentrate on Apple’s India online store. Not just in English, the online store makes it through 7 Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati.

For example, the product details and related information could be found in 7 Indian languages. Moreover, you get specialized support for Apple products and services in English and Hindi.

Apart from the existing Apple product lineup (including the newly launched iPhone 12, Apple Watch Series 6 etc.), the Indian users will be getting the Apple One subscription very soon.

What are the Advantages of Buying Through Apple Online Store?

The Apple India online store has listed a few advantages when shopping directly. They include:

      1. Shopping Assistance with Apple Specialists.
      2. No-contact delivery for FREE.
      3. Various payment options including credit card EMI.
      4. Build the Mac that’s best for you. (tailor-make/configure)
      5. Free 1:1 online session with Apple Specialist on purchasing products.
      6. Up to 2 years of AppleCare+ warranty
      7. Anytime Apple Support

      How Apple iPhone Trade-in Works?

Here’s another much-awaited option “Apple iPhone Trade-in”. This allows Apple lovers to exchange their existing iPhone or any other smartphone. Apple will assess the condition thereby and offer a trade-in value for your smartphone.

The said amount will be given as instant credit and the final bill will be adjusted accordingly on the purchase of a new iPhone.

You don’t need to go anywhere. The smartphone will be collected at your doorstep. This happens when the delivery person reaches you to deliver the newly purchased iPhone.

Currently, this exchange of smartphone is handled by Cashify.in. You just need to download the Verify app from the Google play store or Apple store. And evaluate the functional condition of your smartphone.

That’s a good initiative by Apple. Hope it soon launched the buyback option too.

Though India contributes just 2% revenue to Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant foresees a good future for Apple products in the Indian market. That’s the reason, it’s geared up to set up a retail store.

    • BSNL Republic Day Offer: New Combo STV 269 with 26 Days Validity

      alt text

The state-run telecom operator BSNL is known for launching special STV’s on festivals and important days. Continuing its tradition, the BSNL launched a new combo STV 269 for its esteemed prepaid subscribers.

To mark the 70th Republic Day, the Government-owned telecom company has got a combo STV ₹269 that packs a talk time of 2600 minutes, 260 SMS, and 2.6GB data with a validity of 26 days.

As per the reports, the newly launched STV 269 has got a PAN India approval and will be available during 26th – 31st January. Though the plan is nothing great in terms of the offer but one can surely take advantage of it.

Taking a cue of Corporate Social Responsibility on this National Voter’s Day, the BSNL has urged the young voters to take part in the electoral process.

Back to business, the BSNL has recently enhanced the customer experience by launching many customer-centric schemes that made the private operators follow it. One of them is the announcement of no more blackout days. The new year 2019 allows the BSNL subscribers to use voice and data seamlessly without any blackout day restrictions.

      Unveiling of BharatFibre:

The latest telecom news to hit the industry is the launch of BharatFibre brand. This is touted to be the next generation FTTH broadband connection. On 19th January 2019, the BSNL unveiled the BharatFibre FTTH brand at Chandigarh.

Similarly, the BSBL became the first Telecom Service Provider to introduce data connectivity through SMS. Through an agreement with Be Bound Tech (a French company), the BSNL will keep Android apps get connected even when there’s no internet. Utilization of Apps without any break is ensured by this feature.

Till date, mobile users send messages from their main account. The new feature enables the user to send the same messages with the help of data. However, the benefit is limited to 100 SMS per day. Definitely, this is a BIG number for users unless it is used for commercial purpose.

      What’s Your Opinion?

Hope the new plans and features unveiled by BSNL maximize the customer experience and makes the telco a front runner is bridging the digital India gap.
