    • BSNL Rolls Out New Postpaid Plans with Data Rollover (Starting ₹199)

      alt text

In a significant move, the state-run telecom BSNL revised its postpaid plans offering unlimited calls and data rollover facility. Starting with ₹199 monthly rental, the new plans would commence from December 1st.

The newly announced BSNL postpaid plans will be available across India in all telecom circles. Currently, the BSNL has introduced 3 postpaid plans with monthly rentals ₹199, ₹798 and ₹999.

The USP of these BSNL postpaid plans is data rollover facility. With this, the BSNL Mobile postpaid subscriber can avail data rollover up to 3 months of the monthly allocated data.

The inclusion of on-net unlimited voice calls and FREE family connections is definitely a welcome move by the state-run telecom provider.

Though the BSNL has declared unlimited calling, there’s a 250-minute FUP limit for all calls (local, and STD). Post the FUP, the local mobile and fixed calls are charged ₹1 per minute and the STD calls are charged ₹1.3 per minute respectively.

Moreover, all the plans get 100 SMS per day. Post the 100 SMS limit, each SMS would be charged ₹0.8.

Let’s look at each BSNL plan in detail.

      BSNL Postpaid Mobile Plan 199:

The entry-level 199 plan offers unlimited on-net voice calls, 300 minutes off-net calls, 25GB data and 100 SMS/day. Here, the user gets up to 75GB data rollover with NO family connection.

      BSNL Postpaid Mobile Plan 798:

The ₹799 plan offers unlimited voice calls (local, STD, and roaming), 50GB data and 100 SMS/day. Here, the user gets up to 150GB data rollover with 2 family connections. Each family add-on member will get an unlimited voice calling facility and 50GB data.

      BSNL Postpaid Mobile Plan 999:

The ₹999 plan offers unlimited voice calls (local, STD, and roaming), 75GB data and 100 SMS/day. Here, the user gets up to 225GB data rollover with 3 family connections. Each family add-on user will get an unlimited voice calling facility and 75GB data.

The introduction of new plans in BSNL mobile postpaid segment is a good thing. However, the telecom network took a drastic decision by phasing out ₹99, ₹225, ₹325, ₹799 and ₹1125 plans.

As a promotional offer, BSNL is offering ₹25 discount for its customers of 99/225/325 plan to migrate to higher plans.

Similarly, BSNL is offering ₹50 discount for its 799 plan subscribers to migrate to higher plans (₹999/1525). Though this is a limited offer for 90 days, one can expect it to continue further.

With effect from 1st December 2020, there would be only SIX postpaid plans under BSNL Mobile GSM services. Hereafter, the new customers will be allowed to opt Plan199, plan 399, Plan525, plan 798, plan 999 and plan 1525.

BSNL’s New Postpaid Mobile Plans wef 01.12.2020

    • Moto G 5G Unveiled - The Most Affordable 5G Handset at 300 Euros

      alt text

The Lenovo-owned Motorola Mobility today launched Moto G 5G handset. The new Moto G 5G phone is unarguable the most affordable 5G handset released in the European market.

Though there is a little improvement in 5G ecosystem, the handset makers are concentrating all their resources in developing next-gen experience through 5G smartphones. The latest being Moto G 5G from Motorola.

      Moto G 5G Specifications:

The Moto G 5G smartphone sports a 6.7-inch Max Vision HDR10 IPS LCD panel with 1080x2040 pixels and 393ppi density. Powered by an octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G chipset, 4/6GB RAM and Adreno 619 GPU, the Moto G 5G houses 64GB/128GB internal space along with a microSD card support.

Accordingly, the Moto G 5G comes in 2 variants – 4/64GB and 6/128GB. Both the variants get Universal Flash Storage expansion facility up to 1TB using a microSD card. The only limitation is a hybrid card slot.

      Least Powerful but 5G Capable:

It’s to be noted that the Snapdragon 750SoC is the least powerful 5G chipset from Qualcomm. Probably, that might have influenced the Motorola to include it in developing the affordable 5G handset.

On the optics side, there’s a 48MP triple rear-camera setup. It includes 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro snapper. One can shoot 4K videos at 30fps rate.

For selfie enthusiasts, there’s a 16MP selfie snapper with f/2.2 aperture.

Fueled by 5,000mAh battery and TurboPower 20W fast charging support, the Moto G 5G comes with USB Type-C and headphone jack support. Though it’s not a flagship kind of handset, Motorola has got IP52 splash-proof certification.

      Moto G 5G Availability:

The Moto G 5G handset boots Android 10 with My UX on top. Clad in Frosted Silver and Volcanic Grey colour, the 5G smartphone reportedly uses Nippon Electric Glass (instead of Corning Gorilla Glass) on the top.

Though there is no official confirmation from the Moto team, the retail price for the 4/64GB variant is under 300 Euros. Currently, this 5G handset is limited to Latin American, Middle East and Asian markets.

If the Indian launch is inevitable, it could be priced 25K and 30K respectively.

At this price, the Moto G 5G could face severe competition from OnePlus Nord 5G, Vivo IQOO 3 5G, and Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G.

The Airtel’s FTTH basic plan offers 40Mbps speed till 3.3TB. As usual, the subscriber gets unlimited calling. However, the main advantage with Airtel’s Unlimited FTTH plan is OTT benefit.

The new budget handset from OnePlus boots its own OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10. Starting November 10th, one can grab the handset in Midnight Frost colour.

    • OnePlus Nord N10 5G with Snapdragon 690 SoC (No More a Flagship Brand)

      alt text

It’s official. OnePlus is no more a flagship brand. The Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has added mid-range and budget handsets in the Nord lineup.

OnePlus Nord which used to represent flagship devices now launched affordable smartphones in this Nord series. The two new devices are OnePlus Nord N10 5G and OnePlus Nord N100.

Though both the handsets are meant for international markets (including US and Europe), nothing is said about the Indian launch.

On specs side, the OnePlus N10 5G is a mid-range handset whereas the OnePlus Nord N100 is a budget-entry. Let’s now go with the premium handset and study its specifications.

      OnePlus Nord N10 5G Specifications:

The OnePlus N10 5G sports a 6.49-inch IPS LCD panel with 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate display. Perhaps, this is the first time OnePlus is using IPS LCD panel since the OnePlus 2 in 2015.

Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the back, you get pretty responsive fingerprint sensor as well.

As expected the OnePlus N10 5G is powered by Snapdragon 690 SoC (in similar lines with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 756G chipset) and Adreno 619L GPU. Paired with 6GB/8GB RAM, it packs a 128GB inbuilt storage that can be further expandable.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G Camera Specs:

On the optics front, the OnePlus N10 5G packs a 64MP main camera, 8MP 119˚ ultra-wide sensor, 5MP depth sensor and 2MP macro camera lens. It can record 4K videos at 30fps and slow-mo videos at 120fps.

There is a single 16MP front camera for selfies. Clearly, it’s a downgrade from the 32MP. Moreover, there’s no ultra-wide-lens too.

Fueled by a modest 4300mAh battery, it’s equipped with Warp Charge 30T. For the name namesake, it’s a 5G handset without revealing much about mmWave connectivity. The rest of the connectivity options including 3.5mm headphone jack support remain.

It boots OxygenOS 10.5 based on Android 10 straight out-of-the-box.

Regarding availability, this mid-range OnePlus N10 5G handset will cost £330 (6GB RAM variant) and £380 (8GB RAM variant).

Don’t know how the OnePlus would be justifying the asking price of £330 when its competitors are offering better specs (including 90Hz screen) at more affordable price tag.

If this is the condition of OnePlus N10 5G, could you imagine what OnePlus Nord N100 is in terms of value for money!

At €1200, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is an ultimate camera phone. However, one has to learn to live without Google support.

    • OnePlus Nord N100 Specifications Leaked (Full Credit to Steve)

      alt text

As expected OnePlus is ready with a new budget smartphone OnePlus Nord N100. Thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer, the spec sheet of the upcoming entry-level OnePlus Nord is before us.

The lower-end OnePlus Nord N100 will be the most affordable handset from the OnePlus. Till now, the Chinese company used to bring flagship models at an affordable price. However, there is a change in the company’s strategy.

Till date, OnePlus Nord got its attention as the affordable handset. Starting October 26th, OnePlus Nord N100 could get the prime attention in the budget segment.

      OnePlus Nord N100 Specifications:

Regarding specifications, OnePlus Nord N100 will sport a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD panel. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset, the handset has 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage space.

OnePlus Nord N100 Pricing is the Key Factor:

By unveiling OnePlus Nord N100 in the entry-segment, the company is taking a huge risk. The market itself is flooded with many handsets in 10-15K price range.

As per the new leak, OnePlus Nord N100 could be priced Rs 14,999. However, one needs to wait till the official confirmation. But thanks to Steve Hemmerstoffer without whom we couldn’t get the key specs in advance.

      What’s Your Opinion?

Though the OnePlus Nord N100 spec sheet looks similar to Oppo A53, Oppo A33, and Realme C17, the N100 will surely become the darling of low and mid-range market. This is truly acceptable for the brand OnePlus.

However, in the long-run it may pose a serious dent to the image of OnePlus flagship.
