    OnePlus known for maintaining beta updates has released the Android 11 update to its 2019 flagship smartphones – OnePlus 7/7 Pro and OnePlus 7T/7T Pro.

    Though it was planned for December 2020, the Oxygen OS 11 open beta 1 update couldn’t materialize due to a major decryption bug. As it is now resolved in association with Qualcomm, the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T lineup will now get the Android 11 update.

    Oxygen OS 11 open beta 1 update – What’s Good & Bad?

    As per the release, the new OxygenOS 11 will bring a host of features including new UI visual design, Ambient always-on display, updated camera UI with HEVC codec support, Dark mode, Optimized gallery etc.

    However, it being an Open Beta 1 version, there are potential risks such as increased power consumption and instability. Brightness adjustment and Bluetooth might lag in some cases.

    If you are looking for a stable official version, then stay away from this release. Or else, go-ahead with the ongoing Android 11 beta release. It is always recommended to take a backup of your data before proceeding.

    How to Download Android 11 Open Beta Explained Step Wise?

    The OTA zip file is around 2.7GB in size, thus always make sure you get sufficient data plan or Wi-Fi for it. Just visit the official website for download links.

    After downloading, the ROM upgrade zip, copy it in the root folder of your handset.

    • Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top-right icon -> Local Upgrade.
    • The copied ROM upgrade zip file will be displayed.
    • Click on it.
    • Wait for the installation procedure.
    • After Upgrade, click Restart.
    • Your handset is now upgraded to the latest Android 11.
