Jio 5G Rollout in 2021 Indigenously (India Mobile Congress 2020)

Confirming the Jio 5G services, Mukesh Ambani claimed that Jio will roll out 5G network in the second half of 2021. He also added that Jio 5G will be built indigenously.
Addressing the fourth edition of India Mobile Congress, the company’s CEO Mukesh Ambani announced that Reliance Jio is planning to roll-out 5G services in the second half of 2021.
He added that India is the best digitally connected nation in the world. In order to maintain this lead, the policy steps are needed to fast-track the early rollout of 5G.
India can Still be $5 Trillion Economy:
The year 2020 made remarkable changes. Starting from adopting work from home, to learning from home, India thrived online. Mr Ambani also asserted that the $5 trillion economy will soon be a reality.
Affordability and availability are the keys to success. Stressing 5G revolution, Mr Mukesh Ambani said that Jio will be the pioneer and added that Jio 5G will be powered by the indigenous-developed network. That’s a big push to Indian technology including hardware support.
Remove 2G & Develop 5G Ecosystem:
Stressing the PM’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Mr Ambani asserted that the Jio 5G will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution. When 300 million Indians are still on outdated 2G network, urgent policy steps are to be taken to make the shift to affordable 4G handset.
Mukesh Ambani strongly advocated for the removal of 2G and replace it with the next generation of mobile technology.
At the same time, there’s an urgent need to develop affordable handsets in 5G ecosystem. Speaking from the same dais, Mr Ambani requested PM Modi to speed up the policy decisions regarding 5G implementation.
Mukesh Ambani opined that the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision will surely bring digital transformation. The Jio Platforms has got 20 start-up partners developing multiple world-class technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing, and many more.
This will create a homegrown solution for several sectors of the Indian economy including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, finance and commerce.
5G Spectrum is Expensive, Ecosystem is Underdeveloped:
Interestingly, Bharti Airtel’s chairman Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal said that 5G rollout will take another 2-3 years as the ecosystem for 5G is underdeveloped. However, he showed confidence that India would lead in the space industry.
The next-generation 5G would start to become the norm in the mobile broadband space in the next two-three years. Mr Mittal advocated the need for the private sector in the space communication industry.
