Confirming the rumours, Android Police has reported that Google’s Nexus smartphone successors would be branded as Pixel and Pixel XL. It’s to be noted that Google’s upcoming smartphones are built by HTC. And as per the reports are to be believed, the search engine giant is keen on branding it as Pixel and Pixel XL instead of its flagship brand Nexus.
A rose is rose is a rose. What’s in a name? However, to be precise, Google wants to make a premium product that can easily take over Apple’s iPhone. Right now, HTC is the hardware partner for Nexus. But with the new strategy, there will be no partner at all for 2017. Will this revamping strategy help Google?
Expected 4th October:
As per a report, Google will officially release Pixel and Pixel XL (rumoured names for ‘sailfish’ and ‘marlin’, respectively) smartphones on October 4th. However, there is no information on the location and timing of the event. Along with smartphones, 4K-capable Chromecast and Daydream VR headset will share the limelight of the event.
Based on the inputs received, the prices of Pixel smartphone will be on the higher side and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. Rather curious, October 4th will be the next big Google day.
