Netflix in Talks with Indian Telecom Operators to Provide Seamless Streaming
-
Netflix, the American multinational entertainment giant, is in talks with Indian telecom operators to provide seamless streaming experience for its Indian subscribers. With varying internet conditions and bandwidth limitations in the Indian market, Netflix is facing buffering problems leaving a sense of frustration.
Open Connect Project:
To overcome intermittent outages and connectivity issues, Netflix has launched download feature but still facing issues in delivering entertainment content online. In a bid to provide seamless streaming experience to its Indian subscribers, Netflix has come up with Open Connect Project. Through this project, Netflix is looking to position custom-building caching servers called Open Connect Devices in data centers of all the major telecom operators.
It is for this reason; Netflix is in talks with all the Indian telecom operators including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular, Reliance Jio and others to sign in on their Open Connect Project. This will help the customers to stream the online content from the servers close to them instead of the distant American servers. By doing so, the global media service provider can bring a sea of change in buffering its online content.
Netflix, Available Everywhere Worldwide:
The online streaming service Netflix has expanded its business internationally and is available in over 190 countries. The company started DVD by mail business and expanded it to DVD and Blue-ray rental service. With the phenomenal success of Video-on Demand, Netflix began offering online streaming service to the international market starting from Canada in 2010. Currently, Netflix has become a household name everywhere in the world except China, Syria, North Korea and Crimea.
