  Airtel Digital TV launched its first dedicated educational channel in association with Aakash. The Aakash EduTV channel will be offering coaching sessions for both engineering and medical entrance exam preparation.

  In a bid to offer private coaching sessions across India through LIVE interactive classes, the Aakash Educational Services Ltd has partnered with Airtel Digital TV.

  Speaking on this occasion, Mr Sunil Taldar, Director-Homes, Bharti Airtel, said: “We are delighted to partner with Aakash Institute to offer high-quality Ed-tech content to our 14 million DTH subscribers across India”.

  The Director and CEO of Aakash Educational Services Ltd, Mr Aakash Chaudhry added that the new facility helps the students to hone their skills in an effective manner in the comfort of their home.

  Indeed, this is definitely a good step in helping aspiring students in the preparation of Engineering (JEE/Advanced) and Medical (NEET) entrance exams. Moreover, it doesn’t require any dependence on modern gadgets and internet facility.

  How to Access Aakash EduTV Channels on Airtel Digital TV?

  This path-breaking initiative has two channels - Aakash EduTV - JEE and Foundation (on Channel No: 467) and Aakash EduTV - NEET (on Channel No: 478).

  Currently, these two Aakash EduTV channels are available as Free Preview till 21st October. However, later on, one can access these paid channels by paying ₹247 per month.

  Give a missed call on 91540 52478 to subscribe Aakash EduTV – NEET channel.

  You can also subscribe to the educational Aakash EduTV channels by adding them in Airtel Thanks App or through Airtel Website.

  India’s largest Direct to Home television operator Dish TV has added three new regional HD channels to its HD bouquet. The newly added HD channels are Zee Marathi HD, Zee Bangla HD, and Colors Marathi HD. Apart from this, Dish TV also announced the launch of HD sachets where subscribers can select HD sachets as per their choice at a competitive price of ₹75.

  This is a clear attempt to rope in more regional HD viewers and strengthen its presence for maximum entertainment. Now, the total count of HD channels on Dish TV rose from 56 to 59. The Dish TV subscribers can have a free preview of these HD channels until 28th December 2016. As per the information, the channel number to access Zee Marathi HD, Zee Bangla HD, and Colors Marathi HD are 70, 73 and 71 respectively.

  Encourage HD TV Viewing:

  Addressing the launch of HD channels, Mr. Arun Kapoor, CEO, Dish TV India, said, “DishTV has always taken the lead in enhancing the value proposition and believes in providing the maximum and the best in entertainment to its subscribers. Our endeavor is to increase affinity with our audiences by providing them the choice of content they would like to watch.”

  With an impressive array of regional HD channels, Dish TV encourages regional language subscribers to opt for HD TV viewing. The addition of 3 new regional HD channels is aimed to strengthen its HD space in all the regions.   Web Apps Turn your TV into Smart TV:

  Tata Sky Web Apps are nothing technical. These are very much similar to the Apps that we have on our smartphones. The only difference one can feel is it being on a larger TV screen. On a pilot basis, Tata Sky has launched these Web Apps on Tata Sky+ Transfer HD set top box.

  Through this Tata Sky+ Transfer HD, one can transfer or stream their favourite recorded shows directly on your Android or iOS device anytime and anywhere. As this is the only set top box from TataSky to have internet connectivity via Ethernet or Wi-Fi dongle.

  With the latest support of HTML5 software, the set top box is ready for the application of Web Apps. At present, only a few Web Apps are on Tata Sky+ Transfer HD set top box. These include Cricbuzz, NDTV, Zomato, Navbharat Times, NDTV, and other games apps like Nitro Street Run, Solitaire and Toy Plane.

  To access Web App Menu, just press the green button on the TataSky remote while watching live TV. One can even press showcase button and then select Web Apps from the side Menu of Tata Sky+ Transfer HD set top box.

  As TataSky is the official partner of Mumbai Film Festival 2016, the DTH operator will showcase select movies in channel 302 and 303 in HD and SD feeds respectively on 7th October.   Following a strategic rethink, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has called off the proposed Sony-Viacom18 merger. Instead, the company is now keen to invest more in digital content creation.

  As per the original plans and discussions that continued for about a year and a half, the Ambani owned Viacom18 were to merge with Japanese giant Sony Corp. It’s to be noted down that Reliance Network18 owns a 51% stake in Viacom 18 Media Pvt Ltd.

  Sony-Viacom18 Proposed Merger Decoded:

  If the deal had materialized, the Sony-Viacom18 group would house more than 60 TV channels (including 2 sports networks) and 2 video streaming services (SonyLIV and VOOT). As a result, Sony Pictures Networks India would have got the majority share (74%) and the other 26% by Viacom18 in the merged entity.

  Eventually, the Reliance share would shrink to 12% in the combined entity. This was not acceptable for Reliance Group as it wanted to retain management control over the digital operations.

  The proposed merger would have heated up the competition and a direct threat to Disney+ Hotstar (a merged entity of Disney and Star India).

  With Jio in hand, the Reliance needs a constant flow of content (on digital platforms) as it’s now an essential part of Reliance businesses (both Jio and Fiber-to-Home). This made the Mukesh Ambani group to rethink and abandon the proposed merger.

  Lucrative Market:

  Instead, the Reliance plans to invest aggressively by creating India’s No: 1 OTT destination and thereby grow the digital media business to take on the competition.

  Definitely, when the global players like Amazon Prime and Netflix can lure Indian subscribers, why not Reliance?

  Diwali festival marks a candid celebration for the Reliance group. To sweeten it further, the company offers many sweet deals. Though smaller in subscriber base, Reliance Digital TV has launched a promotional offer where every subscriber can access all HD channels for free when on HD set top box.

  Watch Everything in HD:

  This offer allows the Reliance Digital TV subscribers to watch their favorite channels in HD even if they are not subscribed to HD channel pack. Now, Reliance Digital TV provides 310 channels including 288 SD channels, 12 HD channels, and 10 radio channels. As per the latest offer, all the subscribers can watch these SD channels in HD-like quality with a video resolution of 1080p at 50 Hz. for a period of 2 weeks i.e till 30th of October to mark the Diwali celebrations.

  The company spokesperson says this lucrative offer will give a preview of Reliance’s superior HD picture and sound quality so that the viewers can make their choice to upgrade to the Max HD base pack. Though the offer is not new but it will definitely give a chance to the viewers whether to upgrade their SD pack to HD pack.
