Huawei Mate 40 Pro First Impressions (A Complete Package w/o Google)
-
The Chinese electronics giant Huawei has finally got its top-tier handset Huawei Mate 40 Pro. The day also marked the release of other models in Mate 40 Series including Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro+, Porsche Design Mate 40 RS.
Back to the high-end almost-flagship, Huawei Mate 40 Pro it has set some very interesting benchmark results.
Huawei Mate 40 Pro Specifications:
The handset sports a 6.76-inch OLED display with 2772x1344 pixel resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. You get to watch sharper image with 460ppi display.
Powered by the new Kirin 9000 chipset (5nm), it has got octa-core CPU paired with Mali-G78 GPU. This chipset is the first of its kind (5nm SoC) in Android equivalent to the latest Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset in iPhone 12 series.
Paired with 8GB RAM, the handset packs an inbuilt 256GB storage that can be further expandable using NM cards.
Huawei Mate 40 Pro Camera Specs:
On the optics front, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro has got a set of three Leica optics on the rear. The camera configuration includes 50MP primary camera (wide f/1.9 aperture), 20MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/1.8 aperture), and 12MP periscope telephoto lens.
To the unaware, Huawei has got a new 1/1.28” primary sensor which is claimed to be the largest in the market.
For selfies, there’s a 13MP ultra-wide angle snapper joined by a depth sensor at f/2.4 aperture. On can capture 4K videos using both rear and front cameras at 30/60fps. If you are a slow-motion lover, then you’ll not be disappointed with its 1080p resolution.
As per the DxOMark rating, it tops the chart for both front and rear cameras. The pics and color rendering is excellent. They are pretty similar to what you get from a higher-end DSLR.
What’s Your Opinion?
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro has got face to unlock support but still, there’s a fingerprint sensor built into the display for efficient security.
Fueled by a decent 4200mAh battery combined with a regular 66W charger, it can easily last for a day. The Huawei SuperCharge brings it to 100% in just 45 minutes.
However, it’s disappointing to note that there’s no wireless charger.
At €1200, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is an ultimate camera phone. However, one has to learn to live without Google support.
