Jio Leads With 35% Market Share But Has 88 Million Inactive Users
-
As per the latest data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio continues to be the leader in wireless subscription base. Issuing a press release, TRAI has released the telecom subscription data as on 31st July.
By going through the data supplied by TRAI, it’s official that Reliance Jio is the first telecom network to gain 400 million subscribers. It’s definitely a party-time for Jio.
Jio is the Market Leader But…
The month of July added 3.55 million users to Jio followed by Bharti Airtel (with 3.2 million) whereas the Vi is the worst sufferer. Vodafone Idea combine continued its losing spree with a loss of 3.7 million users.
In a nutshell, the top 5 players are Reliance Jio (35.03%), Bharti Airtel (27.96%), Vodafone Idea (26.34%), BSNL (10.37%), and MTNL (0.29%) in terms of market share.
Airtel Has More Number of Active Users:
Surprisingly, Bharti Airtel has 97% active users as against to Reliance Jio’s 78%. In absolute terms, Jio has over 88 million inactive users when compared to Vodafone Idea’s 32 million and Airtel’s 9.5 million inactive users.
Data Reliance Jio Bharti Airtel Vodafone Idea (Vi) Total Subscribers 400.8 million 319.9 million 301.3 million Market Share 35.03% 27.96% 26.34% Active Users 78.09% 97% 89.33% In-active Users 87.8 million 9.5 million 32.1 million A large chunk of inactive users could pose a serious threat to Jio. There could be many reasons such as migrants out of work during the lockdown, growth of JioFiber etc.
Leaving it aside, India has 955.85 million wireless subscribers active and lost 3.2 million subscribers in the last month.
