At a special event in San Francisco, Google officially launched the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL smartphones. Made by Google first smartphone (from industrial design to software) will be open for sale through pre-booking orders from October 13th. As India is a good market for Google, the new phone will be available both online and offline including Flipkart (online exclusivity), Reliance Digital, Croma and other multi-brand retail stores across the country.
Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL’s High-end Specifications:
Let’s look at how Google has made these phones. You will not find a major difference between Google Pixel and Pixel XL except for the battery and display size. The Pixel phones sport an Aluminium metal unibody and polished glass combination at the back. The Google Pixel features a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution with Gorilla Glass 4 coating on it and backed by a 2,770mAh battery. However, the Google Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with 2560x1440 pixel resolution and a mammoth 3,450mAh battery.
Both the phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM. The internal storage options are 32GB or 128GB. With a best-ever 89 DxoMark mobile score, Google Pixel camera sports a 12.3-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. As per the Google, this highest rated smartphone camera lets you take brilliant photos in low light, bright light or any light.
Google Pixel Unique Features:
The Pixel phones are powered by the exclusive Google version of Android 7.1 and are built on 5 pillars namely Google Assistant, Photography, Storage, Communications and Virtual reality. Swiping on the fingerprint scanner to see notifications is something interesting. The chat apps like Allo and Duo are integrated and the best thing is that Google has offered unlimited Google cloud storage for photo backups. You don’t need to worry about the storage space; all the photos will be backed up on Google servers in full resolution.
You don’t need to worry about its battery as it lasts all day and charges fast. The Google Pixel has a talk time up to 26 hours on 3G and on the other hand, Google Pixel XL lasts up to 32 hours. It supports fast charging up to 7 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging.
Premium Price Tag:
As Google Pixel phones feature high-end specs, one can expect a premium price tag in line with Apple iPhones. The Google Pixel with 32 GB and 128GB storage options are priced at ₹ 57,000 and ₹ 66,000 respectively. Whereas the larger Google Pixel XL will retail at ₹ 67,000 and ₹ 76,000 for 32GB and 128GB variants respectively.
Similar to the live cases for Nexus, Google Pixel phones will have live cases and the users can customize them as per their needs. Google Pixel smartphones are available in Very Black and Quite Silver and a third one limited edition Really Blue color variant which is not available to Indian customers.
