-
The latest TRAI Report on telecom subscription reveals that Bharti Airtel is the leading telecom operator in terms of active subscribers. With about 97.44% active users, Bharti Airtel consolidates its number one position in the sector.
Statistically, Bharti Airtel is still enjoying the numero uno position with about 335.77 million subscribers. This accounts for 97.44% of the total users on its network. On the other hand, Reliance Jio stands in 2nd position with 324.52 million active users.
Though Reliance Jio has the largest number of subscribers (420.73 million) on its board, only 79.01% of them are active. The Vodafone Idea combine stays at the distant 3rd with 256.32 million subscribers. Incidentally, Vi has got 89.63% active subscribers on its network.
With over 118.79 million subscribers, the state-run telecom player BSNL takes the fourth position. Out of them, only 51.69% are tagged active.
Bharti Airtel Adds 5.89 Million New Users:
Bharti Airtel not only leads the segment in a number of active users but also added more subscribers. As per the latest TRAI Jan 2021 report, the telco has got an additional 5.89 million subscribers. Indeed, this is a BIG figure when compared to its competitors.
Reliance Jio has just managed to add 1.95 million subscribers which are far lesser when compared to its main rival. Interestingly, Vi too managed to get 1.71 million new users on its board. The number is in similar lines with that of Reliance Jio. The data also revealed that BSNL has added 83,738 new users in January 2021.
Reliance Jio Losing the Momentum?
By closing following the TRAI subscription data, one can certify that Reliance Jio is losing the momentum which it used to garner during the initial days of the launch.
To the unaware, Reliance Jio has secured its place by purchasing more spectrum during the recently concluded Telecom Spectrum Auction 2021. If the company has to achieve its growth targets, Reliance Jio has to bring new users under its belt.
