Jio to Launch DTH Service at ₹185 per Month, Yet Another Rumour
-
Rumors have been greatly exaggerated that Reliance Jio is about to launch DTH service on December 15. Surprisingly, the reports even stated that Jio DTH subscription would start from as low ₹185 per month and free for the first six months titled as ‘Jio Welcome Offer’.
Some reports even claimed that 350 channels package is half of the price what the incumbent players like Airtel Digital, Tata Sky, and Dish TV are charging.
Unfortunately, this rumor is spreading in the fastest possible way. As per the latest findings by RTN Asia, there has been no authentication from Reliance Jio or its parent company Reliance Industries to set up a distribution network for DTH service. There’s no real time involvement regarding procurement of the necessary infrastructure including dishes and set up boxes.
Moreover, the Jio Fiber connection is currently limited to metro cities like Chennai and Mumbai. Reliance Jio Infocomm will definitely take months or years to cater the service to 100 cities.
When it comes to the matter of dispensing the truth, Telecomm is aimed at providing the platform to discuss truth instead of sensationalism. There has been confusion and the difference between DTH and JioTV app is leading to the rumor. Reliance Jio subscribers are availing free access to premium applications including JioTV app on their smartphone. This output can be connected to your living room TV for a big-screen experience.
How to Get Reliance Jio DTH?
Even if the company is not providing Jio DTH services, you can make use of the existing JioTV app and watch your favorite TV programs on a big screen. For that, you need to get a Google Chromecast. This media streaming dongle costs ₹3,399 and is available for purchase online (Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon) as well as in offline stores including Croma, Reliance Digital stores.
Google Chromecast is an easy way to get video, music, and games to your TV. A whole bunch of great Apps including JioTV, NetFlix, Hooq, Wynk etc supports Chromecast and one can have a great experience of entertainment of JioTV app on bigger screen.
Surprisingly, if you are an owner of an advanced smartphone or the latest TV then you don’t need to invest on Google Chromecast for Jio DTH. The phone’s built-in screencasting feature (such as Miracast) enables you to stream movies and music. There are about 5,007 Miracast-certified devices as of April 16, 2016. As of now, this is the only way to watch Jio TV on your big screen. Stay tuned for the updates.
