Telangana Tower Density Higher Than National Average (BTS Mission)

As per a recent report printed by The Economic Times, Telangana’s tower density is higher than the national average. It has over 25K mobile towers installed in its geographical area.
Thanks to the report published by the popular business daily newspaper owned by The Times Group. Currently, the Telangana’s tower density stood at 0.71 per cent per thousand population against the national average of 0.42 per cent.
Broadband to All Villages of India:
Interestingly, the National Broadband Mission has set the tower density target of 1.7 per cent by 2024 to improve the quality of services for mobile and internet. It involves laying Optical Fibre Cable on a route around 30 lakh kilometres by the year 2024.
Addressing the second meeting of the State Broadband Committee, Mr Somesh Kumar, Chief Secretary Telangana, said that Telangana Government is committed for the fiberisation of Base Station (BTS) and extend the necessary support for the better communicational average in Telangana state.
Currently, the state has 24,961 towers and 34,902 towers are pending to be erected. Statistically, it accounts for 35% of the set target by the National Broadband Mission.
Broadband Readiness Index to Measure the Success Rate:
Mr Somesh Kumar added that necessary approvals would be given for 109 sites and the government is keen on 140 uncovered gram panchayats. Thus, special representations from the Energy and Panchayat Raj departments would be there to sort out the issues.
