Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (A Toned-Down Variant of Flagship)
-
The South Korean electronics giant launched its latest smartphone Samsung Galaxy S20 FE in the Indian market. Priced at ₹49999, the Galaxy S20 FE is powered by octa-core Samsung Exynos 990 chipset instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Specification:
As the Indian variant doesn’t support 5G network, there is a change in the chipset. The other specs remain the same. Backed by 8GB RAM, it has got 128GB inbuilt space and can be expanded further up to 1TB using microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE boots Android 10-based One UI 2.5. With 120Hz refresh rate, the jumbo-sized 6.5-inch FullHD+ Infinity-O AMOLED display is a treat to eyes while watching rich media including OTT content. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection over the panel.
Amazing Triple Cameras:
On the optics front, it has got triple-camera-setup (12mp wide + 8mp telephoto + 12mp ultrawide) on the back and 32mp front-facing camera. A responsive optical in-display fingerprint scanner for security is also included.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE packs 4500mAh battery with 15W wireless charging support. It includes a 25W wired charger as well. Surprisingly, Samsung has ditched 3.5mm headphone jack.
Available in 5 different colours (including Cloud White, Cloud Navy, Cloud Lavender, Cloud Red, and Cloud Mint), the latest Samsung Galaxy S20 FE can be purchased both online and offline stores across India.
Staring October 16th, one can order online through Amazon India and Samsung India website. The pre-orders will start on October 9th.
What’s Your Opinion?
Undoubtedly, Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Indian variant loses its charm without Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. To be precise, one can’t label it as a flagship model. In reality, it’s a toned-down variant.
Instead, I would give with Samsung Galaxy S20+ during Flipkart Big Billion Sale.
Gone are the days of supremacy enjoyed by Galaxy Note series in the premium segment. Now, one has a myriad of alternatives within 50K budget. By observing the current trend, it appears that Samsung has handed over this premium segment to OnePlus.
Guess, one can even get the super expensive iPhone 11 under 50K budget on Amazon sale.
In short, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE might appeal only to Samsung brand lovers.

It’s to be noted down that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE gets a 30X Space Zoom at its 12MP triple-camera-setup. The inclusion of tetra-binning technology enables users to get a post-worthy picture.
Powered by a 7nm Exynos 990 processor, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE smartphone sports a 6.5-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display with 120 Hz super smooth scrolling display.
