BSNL Launches Digital Authentication Process for New Connections
-
The state-owned telecom operator, BSNL has launched digital authentication process for activating new connections starting from Mysuru. Gone are the days of verifying hard copies, BSNL is favoring paperless verification process. Instead of processing multiple documents, the telco will now make use of biometric data and Aadhaar number.
Addressing the launch, Mr. KL Jairam, District General Manager, BSNL Mysuru Telecom District, said, “There will no longer need to produce photocopies of identity proofs and photographs. The customer’s Aadhaar number and the biometric impression will be taken, and if they match, all information will be collected from the Aadhar database. The whole process takes only a few seconds."
Apart from its core business, BSNL’s optical fiber network services are the center of attention that delivers high-speed broadband speeds up to 100Mbps. Fiber to the Home is a relatively new and fast-growing method of providing very high bandwidth to its customers. The main advantage of deploying FTTH over other traditional methods is it being a single package with the combination of internet, voice, and intercom facility.
Currently, BSNL Mysuru is serving 2,500 customers through optical fiber connections and is installing public Wi-Fi hotspots in and around Mysore Palace. Incidentally, the state-run telecom operator BSNL has commissioned this tech-friendly Wi-Fi service at Mysore Zoo in June.
