Apple Abandons Sale of 21.5-inch iMac (512 & 1TB SSD Config)

Cupertino-headquartered American multinational tech giant Apple has discontinued two configurations of its 21.5-inch iMac. This means, the company no longer intends to sell 512GB and 1TB SSD setups.
Hours after discontinuing Apple iMac Pro, the company has taken another decision to stop listing 512GB and 1TB setups of the 21.5-inch iMac on its portal. This indicates the iMac lovers will not be able to purchase those setups.
It is evident that Apple iMac is now available only in 256GB SSD and 1TB Fusion drive forms. However, it is not clear whether this decision is a stock related issue or permanent discontinuation.
Chip Shortage & Redesign?
The experts feel this situation as odd where the discontinued 1TBB SSD and keeping the fusion drive option alive. Probably, there could be a chip shortage and redesign.
There have been strong rumours that Apple will replace the 27-inch and 21.5-inch versions of the iMac with an all-new redesign and of course the Mac Pro is underway.
Furthermore, the new iMacs will use Apple’s own silicon chips. Though the exact timeframe is not known yet this shift away from Intel chips is considered to be a strategic decision.
Probably, the tech giant is optimizing its chips right now to prevent iPhone delays. Moreover, it also wants to show how much faster its M1X silicon when compared to previous Intel models.
Brazil’s Procon-SP Fined Apple $2 Million:
In another event, the South American nation Brazil has fined the tech giant Apple $2 million. Do you know the reason for it?
This is for not including the charger in the recently launched iPhone 12 series. The Brazilian consumer protection court Procon-SP accused that Apple is allegedly engaged in misleading advertising, selling the handset without the charger and unfair terms.
To the unaware, Apple has not packed the chargers and headphones in iPhone 12 boxes citing environmental concerns. The retail box consists of a handset and USB-C to Lightning cable.
As per Brazil’s regulatory authority, there were complaints against Apple as it didn’t repair the iPhone 11 Pro handset after problems with water. The American tech giant is yet to respond on Procon-SP charges.
