As per a recent survey conducted by CyberMedia Research, OxygenOS tops the list and is the most preferred mobileOS for any smartphone. The OxygenOS which boots OnePlus smartphones leads the pack with 74% consumer satisfaction followed by Apple iOS with 72 percent and Samsung One UI (68%).

The study conducted by CyberMedia Research revealed interesting facts about consumer choice in selecting a smartphone. The company claimed that its extensive study was conducted in 6 cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

MobileOS is the Key Factor in Consumer Experience:

Interestingly, more than 55 percent respondents felt that mobileOS is the key factor that imparts consumer experience and delight.

If given a chance, every 3 in 5 users are ready to grab a new handset based on the mobile’s operating system. This tendency is more when the user is facing issues like unwanted ads and bloatware in the OS. The other issues include abnormal battery drain, poor wi-fi network, overheating and lack of storage etc.

The users would like to update their handsets to boost performance and ensure security. Indeed, most of the respondents want to be socially connected through networking apps and enjoy gaming and the latest entertainment through YouTube and OTT.

Citing the importance of user experience, Mr Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group, CMR, said: “Along with mobile hardware specs, the user is giving importance to mobileOS that offers seamless lag-free experience”.

Other Important Findings from the CMR Study:

The key findings from the CyberMedia Research study are as follows:

OnePlus (30%) is the most preferred premium smartphone brand of choice among Indian consumers. It is followed by Apple (26%) and Samsung (12%). Remember, this has nothing to do with the sales.

MobileOS is the key purchase driver in the smartphone brand selection. More than 55% of users felt it as very important and 32% as important.

Interestingly, more than 33% of users felt the need to free-up memory on an Android device as the major challenge with the current smartphone. Equally 33% felt battery drainage as the challenge. 26% opined unwanted ads in the OS and 25% felt unwanted pre-installed apps the major roadblock.
