As reported in the last post, Huawei is all set to Make in India phones by month-end. Now, as per the latest information, Huawei will be manufacturing one of the Honor smartphone models from the Flextronics Technologies manufacturing plant in Chennai starting from the first week of October 2016.
The company reported that these made-in-India handsets will hit the Indian market as early as next month. The Flextronics Technologies Plant will have the manufacturing capacity to make 3 million units by the end of 2017.
Expansion of Distribution Network:
In addition, Huawei is also looking at expanding its distribution network nationwide by adding over 350 distributors, partnering with more than 50,000 retail outlets across India.
Speaking on inaugurating the facility, Minister for IT, Law & Justice Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Indian government is pleased to see the enthusiasm for ‘Make in India’ initiative and would work towards making India an electronic manufacturing hub. As India is set to become the second largest smartphone market, technology leaders should eye this as an opportunity and start local manufacturing.
