-
Nokia has tied up with the Walmart owned Indian retail giant Flipkart and launched a notebook for the Indian market. After several years, the 155-year-old iconic Finnish company is back in the hardware business.
The launch of Nokia PureBook X14 notebook makes a grand entry into the Indian laptops segment. Powered by 10th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and UHD 620 integrated graphics, the 14-inch full HD screen Nokia’s laptop features a magnesium-aluminium alloy body and weighs just 1.1kg.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr Vipul Mehrotra, Vice President (Nokia Brand Partnerships), said: “We are excited to offer consumers in India a Nokia branded laptop which brings innovation to address a gap in the market, as well as the style, performance and reliability that the Nokia brand is known for.”
Starting December 18th, this Flipkart-exclusive Nokia PureBook X14 will be available for preorders at a price of $815 (₹59,990). Clad in a matte black finish, the Nokia PureBook X14 comes with Windows 10 Home Plus OS pre-installed and HD IR webcam with Windows Hello Facial Recognition.
Specifications of Nokia PureBook X14 Notebook:
Specs-wise, the Nokia PureBook X14 sports a 14-inch full HD IPS display (1920 x 1080p) with Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range (HDR), 86% screen-to-body ratio, and 250 nits peak brightness. Powered by an Intel Core i5 10th-Gen processor and 8GB DDR4 RAM, it houses a 512GB NVMe SSD.
The graphics part is handled by integrated Intel UHD 620 Graphics with 1.1GHz turbo speeds. The Nokia notebook supports 4K and Dolby Atmos support for headphones. Thus, it can be used for graphic related work as well.
As per the sales page, the connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Di, Bluetooth 5.1, two USB 3.1 ports, one USB 2.0, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, an HDMI port, Ethernet jack, audio output, and a MIC In port. Nokia Laptop: What’s Your Opinion?
By launching Nokia PureBook X14 notebook in the Indian market, Nokia wants to regain its lost market. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a good rise in the sales of laptops and thus the Indian PC market registered recorded an impressive growth rate of 9.2% in Q3 of 2020.
As per the IDC Market Research report, over 70% of the Indian PC market is dominated by HP, Lenovo and Dell. Let’s hope Nokia makes its re-entry a memorable one.
Instead of just relying on Intel SoC, Nokia should have released a Ryzen version too. As per the industry experts, the Nokia PureBook X14 notebook is slightly overpriced. The company should consider the manufacturers like Asus and Acer who provide similarly configured machines at a much lower price.
