Idea Cellular Rolls Out 4G Services in Lucknow and Kanpur

India’s third-largest telecom network Idea Cellular launched its 4G services in Lucknow and Kanpur. As per reports, the company will cover all the major towns of UP (East) telecom circle by March 2017.
Idea Cellular Aims at Uttar Pradesh (East) Circle:
Starting from Lucknow and Kanpur, Idea Cellular has announced its 4G roll out in a phased manner. As Varanasi and Allahabad are important tourist destinations, Idea Cellular will cover its 4G cloud within this month. More than 23 towns of UP (East) telecom circle will have Idea Cellular 4G coverage by March 2017.

Announcing the launch of Idea Cellular 4G services, Mr. Anish Roy, COO-Corporate, Idea Cellular, said: “Idea has consistently invested in network expansion to become a pan-India wireless broadband operator, readying our 200 million customers for the Digital era. Over the last one year, Idea has more than doubled its mobile broadband network on 3G/4G platform, and now covers over 50% of India’s population.”
Idea-Vodafone Proposed Merger:
Idea Cellular has about 1 crore customers in Uttar Pradesh (East) telecom circle. With the deployment of 4G services, Idea Cellular subscribers can now enjoy high-speed internet for Digital Idea apps. This is to recap that Digital Idea is a suite of 3 entertainment apps namely Idea Music Lounge, Idea Movie Club and Idea Game Spark.
As per the new initiative, Idea Cellular will also expand its digital services into cloud storage, digital payments and digital communication etc. Currently, Idea Cellular network spans 100,000 towns and villages across India with a customer base of 191 million users. With the recent Idea-Vodafone India proposed merger news, it would create a better customer market share and value for its shareholders.
