    The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has got good news to Redmi 9 Prime handset users. The budget smartphone will now boot MIUI 12 based on Android 10.

    Till now, the Xiaomi rolled out its latest MIUI12 to older smartphones including Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5. By extending the MIUI 12 update to Redmi 9 Prime handset, the company brings December 2020 update to its budget smartphone.

    Even before there is an official announcement, many users reported this MIUI 12 update on social-media platforms including Twitter. By looking at the screenshots, it is evident that the new update bears MIUI 12.0.1.0.QJCINXM version number and occupies up to 608MB storage space.

    What’s New with MIUI 12 Update?

    The new MIUI 12 update on Redmi 9 Prime fixes the issue of landscape mode. It adds many new features like a control centre, new notification tray, new lock screen, and animations and sounds.

    As the new update is scheduled in a phased manner, the timeframe would be different for each handset user. It is to be noted that both the Redmi 9 Prime and Poco M2 have identical specs with a price tag of ₹9999. And thus, one can expect the same MIUI 12 update for Poco M2 handsets.

    Those who are unaware, Redmi 9 Prime sports a 6.53-inch full HD+ LCD screen with 4/64GB and 6/128GB variants and is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core chipset.

    It rocks AI-quad-camera setup with 13MP+8MP+5MP+2MP configuration and 8MP selfie camera. Backed by a 5020mAh battery, this Redmi 9 Prime handset gets a 10W charger in the box.

    Redmi 9 Prime is available in two variants in India. The entry variant of this phone is 4GB + 64GB storage, while the other is 6 GB RAM + 1 28 GB storage variant. The update will come with the December 2020 Android security patch. The new MIUI 12 update has improved the control center.
