Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G Unveiled (Oppo’s First 5G Handset in India)
-
In a big development, the Chinese consumer electronics giant Oppo has unveiled Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G in India. Incidentally, this is Oppo’s first 5G handset in the Indian territory.
The Guangdong-headquartered Chinese company has stated that India will be the first overseas market for Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G and thereafter a global release will be followed.
You might be aware that Oppo Reno series is purely a high-end but affordable flagship handset. Previously, it used Snapdragon 720G chipset and 48MP quad-camera configuration on Oppo Reno4 Pro.
Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G Specifications:
Regarding specifications of the latest Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G, it sports a 6.55-inch Super AMOLED 3D curved display (2400x1800p, 402ppi) with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz sampling rate. The smartphone has just 7.6mm thickness and weighs 173 grams.
The display comes with HDR10+ certification and supports dual-view video mode.
It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC, ARM G77 GPU and up to 8GB RAM. It’s the first handset to be powered by such higher-end 5G ready chipset in the Indian market. Sadly, it limits the internal storage to 128GB and there’s no microSD slot to expand its memory any further.
AI Quad-camera Setup with Live HDR:
The Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G has AI quad-camera setup on the back that includes 64MP f/1.7 primary camera, 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, 2MP sensors f/2.4 each for macro and mono shots. It supports 4K video@30fps, Live HDR and Ultra Night Video recording features as well. For selfies and video calling, there’s a 32MP f/2.4 selfie snapper.
Backed by a decent 4350mAh battery and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 ultra-fast charging technology, the company claims that Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G can be charged from 0% to 100% in just 30 minutes. Even just 5 minutes charging gives you 4 hours of video playback. It runs ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 out-of-the-box.
Connectivity wise, the Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G supports 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, WLAN, Earphone jack, and USB Type-C port.
Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G Price and Competition:
Clad in Starry Black and Astral Blue colour variants, the new Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G will retail at ₹35,990 ($490/€405). Starting January 22nd, one can grab this 5G handset on Flipkart, Oppo e-store, Croma and other retail partners.
As an introductory offer, there’s a 10% cash back on purchases (for the first 3 days) through HDFC and ICICI Bank cards. Moreover, OPPO Care provides complete damage protection for 180 days. Apart from OPPO assured buyback and 180 days extended warranty, one gets free 120GB cloud storage for 12 months on purchase of Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G handset.
At this price range, the Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G will have to face stiff competition from other popular handsets including OnePlus 8T, Mi 10T/Mi 10T Pro, Realme X3 Super Zoom, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite and Google Pixel 4a.
So, what is your opinion on the latest Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G? Would you be ready to upgrade from Oppo Reno4 Pro? Share your thoughts.
