Finally, Amazon has expanded its cloud gaming service, Luna, to Android users. After its launch on September 24, 2020, the Luna cloud gaming platform is available on PC, Mac, Amazon Fire TV and iOS (iPhone & iPad) users.
Starting December 16, 2020, Amazon’s Luna can be accessed by Android users on select Google, Samsung and OnePlus smartphones. However, access to the service is through early access at a cost of $5.99 per month.
Luna ~ Amazon’s Cloud Gaming Platform:
For the unaware, the Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming platform on similar lines from Google’s Stadia, Microsoft Xbox Game Pass clouding game, Sony’s PlayStation Now and NVIDIA’s GeForce Now.
The USP of these cloud gaming platforms is that you don’t need any gaming PCs or gaming consoles. All you need to have is high-speed internet access i.e., 10Mbps or higher for 1080p video quality. Unlike streaming movies or music, cloud gaming can consume up to 10GB/hour at 1080p.
You can simply stream the games directly from the cloud to your screen.
The Luna “early access” is currently limited to US subscribers (Hawaii, Alaska, and U.S. territories) only. And moreover, it is available by invitation only. Interested users can register themselves and get the invite on the company’s website.
How to Access Amazon’s Luna Cloud Gaming?
In order to use this Luna service, one can simply access it via the Chrome web browser. There’s no need of downloading Luna App. It involves a few steps.
- Just launch your Chrome browser on an Android smartphone.
- Go to Amazon.com slash Luna
- After the prompt, you’ll be asked to add Amazon Luna to your mobile as a web app.
- Launch the web app on the handset.
- Sign in and start playing.
The Luna+ subscription allows unlimited hours of play up to 1080p/60fps. 4K is coming soon to select titles. You can stream on 2 devices at a time.
The gaming library currently includes Resident Evil 7, Control, Panzer Dragoon, A Plague Tale: Innocence, The Surge 2, Yooka-Laylee, The Impossible Lair, Iconoclasts, GRID, ABZU, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and many more.
