-
Microsoft announced a new dual SIM feature phone. If you are keeping track of the recent developments of Nokia, then this will be a big surprise. The new feature phone is christened as Nokia 216.
The Last Microsoft-made Nokia Phone:
Probably, in mid-may, Microsoft sold off Nokia brand to Foxconn subsidiary, HMD Global for $350 million. The new announcement of Nokia 216 is a big surprise indicating that this will be the last Nokia phone by Microsoft. Officially, Foxconn has started manufacturing Nokia feature phones from their Chennai plant in India.
By looking at Nokia 216, you’ll get nostalgic of holding a Nokia handset in the mid-2000s. This Nokia 216 is a basic feature phone where one can access the internet and play music. However, it is to be remembered that the new Nokia 216 lacks the advanced features of a smartphone. This low feature Microsoft phone is aimed at the Indian market and thus priced it at ₹2495 and will be available in retail stores from 24th October, 2016.
Nokia 216 Feature Phone Specifications:
The handset packs some interesting features including space for up 2000 contacts and has a polycarbonate shell with matching color keys. It sports 2.4-inch QVGA (240x320 pixels) display screen and runs on Nokia’s Series 30+ operating system coupled with 16MB RAM and 0.3-megapixel front and rear camera. The rear camera LED flash doubles as a built-in torchlight. You can browse and download apps and games from the Opera web store. The users can download one Gameloft game absolutely free every month for a period of 1 year.
Nokia 216 phone also supports Stereo FM radio, MP3 and video players. It sports a 3.5mm audio jack and is backed by a replaceable Li-ion 1020 mAh battery that can power the device a standby time of up to 24 days ( and up to 19 days for Nokia 216 Dual SIM phone). The company claims that the Nokia 216 provides a continuous voice conversation of up to 18 hours and comes with a memory card support up to 32GB storage.
This is to mention that Nokia 216 feature phone is available both in single SIM and dual SIM variants. It’s built in Cyan, Silver and Black as color options. And to warn there will be no Wi-Fi support.
What’s Your Take?
Overall, Nokia 216 is a good phone for its price and this feature phone is necessary for everyone. If you had been a die-hard fan of Nokia, then this could be the last release from Microsoft. Don’t worry, more Nokia devices will be released but this time from HMD Global or Foxconn subsidiary.
