In a quick revamp, the state-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) revised its popular ₹199 postpaid plan. The new strategy will now help BSNL to take on Jio and improve its position.

Though the ₹199 plan seems to be a lower-end plan, it has has got a good approval rate across all the telecom players. With respect to the BSNL ₹199 postpaid plan, earlier (as per December 2020 update) it used to ship unlimited on-net calling and 300 off-net calls in its 1-month offering.

    BSNL ₹199 Postpaid Plan Benefits:

The BSNL has gone ahead and revised the plan as per the current trend and customer demand. Here after, the ₹199 postpaid plan will offer unlimited voice calling to any network within India. Interestingly, this includes voice calling to Mumbai and Delhi Telecom Circles and MTNL network.

Apart from unlimited voice calling benefits, the ₹199 postpaid plan ships 100 SMS per day and 25GB data per month. One can avail data rollover facility up to 75GB. The new revision is effective from February 1st onward.

If one observes the revision, it is a clear attempt to stop the subscribers shift towards Jio. You might be aware that after removal of Interconnect Usage Charges (IUC) Reliance Jio has started offering unlimited voice calls to any network.

Leaving it aside, the latest revision of ₹199 postpaid plan will surely arrest the negative growth by the PSU. With no daily limit of 250 minutes, BSNL’s 199 plan will surely rock the postpaid segment.

BSNL ₹199 Vs Reliance Jio ₹199 Postpaid Plan:

Currently, the ₹199 postpaid plan from both BSNL and Reliance Jio offers unlimited voice calls, 25GB data and 100SMS per day. The positive aspect in BSNL is its data rollover facility that’s lacking in Reliance Jio’s offering.

However, the Reliance Jio ₹199 postpaid plan has a slight upper hand due to its OTT benefits like Jio TV and Jio Cinema where it is clearly lacking in BSNL package. Leaving it aside, the BSNL ₹199 postpaid plan is surely a good plan with basic benefits without worrying about recharges.
